Tanatswa Marumani
Hi I’m Maru. I’m a 21-year-old sports photographer from Harare, Zimbabwe. Sport has played a significant role in my life providing me with countless opportunities. Here’s a quick summary:
On a cricket scholarship, I attended Lilfordia School from 2015-16. In 2017, I moved to Falcon College on a hockey and cricket scholarship, and completed high school in 2022. These were some of the best years of my life as I made lasting memories and had the opportunity to express myself as a sportsman, doing what I loved, playing cricket in the summer and hockey in winter.

The Journey
In October 2020, I was diagnosed with Septic Arthritis… my dream of playing sport was shattered!
I was off sport and in recovery for almost 2 years, and it was during this period that I picked up a camera and learnt how to take photos. What started as a means to cope quickly turned into a passion for capturing the thrilling moments I missed being part of.
Now, a few years later, my vision as a sports photographer is to capture the essence of sport – connecting with athletes and fans through visual storytelling. I focus on raw emotion, the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, and the authentic athletic moments that go unnoticed. I have photographed a wide range of sports across various schools and have had the opportunity to cover international cricket events, including the Zimbabwe / New Zealand / South Africa T20I Tri-Series 2025 and the Zim Afro T10 League 2024.
